Advanced Skills & Mentoring
What is it?
The Austin Soundwaves Advanced Skills & Mentoring Program provides young musicians with musical and life coaching in order to: Gain the skills necessary to practice and perform music at a high level. Make effective choices throughout middle and high school. Connect with students, programs, and opportunities outside of school. Students accepted into the Advanced Skills & Mentoring Program receive weekly music lessons and mentoring sessions. Students also receive opportunities to perform in concerts, attend field trips, and learn about college opportunities. Who should apply? Students with at least two years of experience in Austin Soundwaves or another school music program. Applying students should be motivated to learn and willing to adhere to a set schedule of lessons, concerts, and mentoring sessions. What does it cost? Classes/lessons cost between $10 and $40 an hour, depending on the number of students in class. Financial aid is available; we will never decline an application due to financial reasons, including an inability to pay.

Applications are accepted year round, however students are typically admitted to the program at the beginning of each semester (fall or spring) or at the beginning of summer (June).
